Ed Sheeran’s “Afire Love”: Listen To The New ‘X’ Track

Get ready to hear a lot more of Ed Sheeran‘s sophomore LP x ahead of its release on June 23. With “Sing” flying high on the charts — and a serious contender for becoming this year’s Song Of The Summer — the British singer unleashed his razor-sharp dis track “Don’t” just ahead of this past weekend, and is back on top of the iTunes singles roundup today with another album track, “Afire Love.”

Here, Sheeran swaps out the funk and bite from “Sing” and “Don’t” for a more somber, mid-tempo piano and handclap-filled melody. It’s really not hard to imagine Ed taking inspiration for this one from moody elder crooners of yesteryear, such as Bruce Hornsby or Don Henley.

At any rate, “Afire Love” feels like the perfect way to kick off a mellow Monday morning off. Give the latest taste of x a listen below.
