Is 5 Seconds of Summer the next big thing? The rising Australian pop-punk act may have cemented its status with its new song, “Kiss Me Kiss Me.” For this, 5 Seconds of Summer worked with frontman Alex Gaskarth of Baltimore emo outfit All Time Low — a major influence of theirs. And throughout, they embrace all of what All Time Low did right: sounding resolutely teenaged (in other words, their ages – ranging from 17 to 19) but also completely excited (I mean, puppy love is wonderful), and in a genre often associated with angst. “Kiss Me Kiss Me” is a sugar rush of a pop-punk summer anthem.

The song surfaced online after 5 Seconds of Summer offered a download to North American fans who pre-ordered its self-titled debut, out June 27, on iTunes. For a preview of what to expect, hear “Kiss Me Kiss Me” after the jump.
