Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want” Video: See A Leaked NSFW Snippet (And Why It Was Never Released)

Initially, Lady Gaga was to release her “Do What U Want” video last December. She never did, though, blaming time constraints and “betrayal” – an unsatisfying explanation, considering how her ARTPOP duet with R. Kelly (and redux with Christina Aguilera) blew away critics and fans alike. Earlier today (June 19), a leaked snippet and anonymous statements hint at other, more incriminating reasons why the “Do What U Want” video was never released.

In the snippet, Lady Gaga lays naked on a hospital bed, covered by only a sheet. R. Kelly, playing doctor, reaches for her underneath the sheet, making her moan slightly. (“Sounds like that medicine’s starting to kick in,” he says.) The video cuts to a party scene, over that same hospital bed: As R. Kelly lights up a cigar, nurses crawl over and toy with a comatose Gaga’s body. Another scene catches her in a room, either in dancing in a dress of tabloids or naked and writhing explicitly, before director Terry Richardson. See it below.

Gaga’s “Do What U Want” video wasn’t scrapped just for being sexually explicit, though. According to Page Six, it was never released because of the growing controversy surrounding her collaborators.

By December, several models had accused Richardson of sexually assaulting and harassing them – claims that the famed photographer refutes in New York‘s latest cover story, “Is Terry Richardson an Artist or Predator?” Meanwhile, R. Kelly faced an overwhelming backlash after a Village Voice interview with Jim DeRogatis, the Chicago reporter who broke the story of R. Kelly’s own sexual assault accusations, filed by teenaged girls. (“The saddest fact I’ve learned is nobody matters less to our society than young black women. Nobody,” DeRogatis said.)

“Gaga had a video directed by an alleged sexual predator, starring another sexual predator,” an unnamed source said to Page Six. “With the theme, ‘I’m going to do whatever I want with your body’? It was literally an ad for rape.”

Idolator, don’t repeat the lies. Accusations against Richardson and R. Kelly were either way before (in R. Kelly’s case) or several months after (for Richardson) the filming of the DWUW music video, so there’s no reason for her team to oppose it that lines up with the chronology.

Now that that’s been ironed out, I’m not sure what the real reason was for delaying the DWUW music video. Gaga says she wasn’t happy with it and the single was mismanaged, but that’s kind of hard to believe since this is the same woman who growled and screamed in Bad Romance when her managers still wanted her to keep the sex doll image of Poker Face. So, if she really wanted to release it, she could have.

If I had to guess, I would say the (main) reason for not releasing the DWUW music video was that she couldn’t keep up with the fiasco her advertising team went through (e.g. promoting a leaked single, changing the second single, etc.).

Terry Richardson’s been accused of assault and harassment for quite some time (see from Nov 2013). Accusations against R Kelly resurfaced around the same time (Dec 2013, according to the link above). These definitely coincide with the video filming, so Idolator seems spot on.

The DWUW music video was filmed before November 2013 (see Page Six source in

That links says it was shot in September and scheduled for a December release. In between, accusations against Terry Richardson came out. Still seems like the timeline makes sense. Do you think Terry Richardson only became a creep after this video was filmed, and that it would have been okay to release it in that case?

And yet her fans are still defending her and Idolator promoting her. She’s glamourizing rape : in the song, in the performances of the song (SNL, AMA) and in interviews where she supported R Kelly and even tweeted about his new single months after the piece in the Village Voice was published. She can’t ignore the accusations against Terry Richardson because he’s a close friend and was with her when the allegations were made public. She knew. You don’t duet on a song naed “Do what you ant with my body” with somebody accused of peeing on a 13 y/o girl. SHE KNEW. Everybody knew but she would be the only one to not know ? And how come TMZ got to put copyrighted material on its website ? Her album flopped, her so-called revolutionary apps she bragged about for a year never came to fruition, her singles flopped, her tour is playing in half empty arenas and nobody talks about it. She had to attack Katy Perry on Twitter to get people talk about her. All she does is changing wigs and costumes that make her even more ugly (which is a real challenge) and get photographed by paparazzis. That is what Lady gaga career is today.

I love Gaga and I loved ARTPOP as an album. But it is hard to deny that this era has been a complete mess.

VILE, Gaga knew she was teaming up with the rape-y Richardson and the pedo-y R Kelly! She doesn’t care about who it hurts or what it means as long as people look at her. DESPERATE and HORRIBLE!

People will believe anything they read. The PAST is in the PAST. Stop living in yesterday & start living for today. Artists and everyone that puts in the work behind them are a lot smarter than you think. Nothing goes unplanned and everything is talked about. Stop letting your minds be controlled and start looking at things as a whole instead of one dimension. Only then will you be able to prosper and view things for how they really are.
