5 Seconds Of Summer Are Not Fine At All On Heartbreaking Ballad “Amnesia”: Listen

They were only just begging you to “Kiss Me, Kiss Me” last week, and already, the boys of 5 Seconds Of Summer just want to forget all about it.

Earlier today, the rapidly rising Aussie troupe premiered a new song down under in New Zealand called “Amnesia,” the latest taste of what’s to come from their highly anticipated self-titled debut LP, out in just a few days (June 27). And, unlike the storming pop-punk anthems like “She Looks So Perfect” and “Don’t Stop” that have quickly rocketed them to “The Next Big Thing” status, the boys are stripping it back substantially on this sobering new number, co-penned by veteran Good Charlotte pop-punkers Benji and Joel Madden.

“I wish that I could wake up with amnesia and forget about the stupid little things/Like the way it felt to fall asleep next to you, and the memories I never can escape,” the boys achingly harmonize above acoustic guitars. It’s a much more tender effort from the usually rowdy 5SOS boys, proving they’ve got what it takes to pack an emotional punch too. Listen to “Amnesia” after the jump.
