Mariah Carey Does Not Approve Of Her “You Don’t Know What To Do” Cover, Releases Solo Version
After a period of prolonged confusion (what happened to “Thirsty”?), Mariah Carey finally took this era by the reins and confirmed she’s releasing Wale-assisted bop “You Don’t Know What To Do” as the next official single from her poorly-promoted-but-extremely-good LP Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse. It’s a good choice, particularly for the summer.
But before you take a sip of Butterfly and relax in the knowledge that MIAM is back on track, there’s another minor drama. Fans immediately clocked the single’s official artwork (above) as a photoshopped crop of the album cover and the usual quips about Mimi’s airbrushing addiction starting doing the rounds. Only this time, she agrees! “That definitely was NOT my selection for the cover… ugh!,” Mariah tweeted before asking fans to send in their own version because: “at this point IDKWTD!”
I highly doubt anything was released by the label without the legendary diva’s approval, so this is probably a clever and cute way of letting the Photoshop jokes work in her favor. Mariah also unveiled a solo version of “You Don’t Know What To Do”, which actually sounds even better than the original. (Sorry, Wale!) Listen to the fabulous 44-year-old’s disco anthem after the jump and see her tweets and approved fan covers.
