Jhene Aiko is ready to sail out in 2014.

After climbing into the Hot 100 with her Sail Out EP standout “The Worst” and teasing her new single on Instagram yesterday, the stunning alt-R&B starlet just dropped “To Love And Die” at midnight on iTunes — the first taste of her forthcoming debut LP, Souled Out.

The track, which features hip-hop collective Cocaine 80s, sees Jhene exploring familiar R&B textures while falling head over heels in love, preparing to head into war to win herself some much-needed affection: “‘Cause where I’m from we live by the love, die by the love,” Jhene softly coos across a tripping drum loops and hypnotic, spacey synthesizers. “I’m just a prisoner of your army of one/But I’ll fight until the death, or until your heart is won.” After the newfound success of “The Worst,” it’s good to hear that Jhene’s still sticking to her signature sound and keeping it exquisitely moody. Listen to Jhene’s all-or-nothing ode to love after the jump.
