Well, it’s really official now: Sam Smith is lonely no more.

There are in fact plenty of eyes and ears on the skyrocketing UK soul-pop singer — so many, in fact, that he’s just broken the record for highest UK male artist first week debut album sales in the 23-year history of Soundscan.

According to an official press release from the singer, Smith’s critically acclaimed debut studio album In The Lonely Hour will land on the Billboard 200 Albums chart at #2 this week (which means Lana Del Rey‘s snagged herself that #1, after all), selling over 166,00 copies. In addition, Sam’s album was also the fastest selling debut of 2014 in the UK.

The monumental achievement is largely due to the runaway success of current Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Stay With Me,” as well as his much-buzzed about live performances and covers, including his incredible take on Whitney Houston‘s “How Will I Know.”

Congratulations to you, Sam! This is a major victory. And for the uninitiated — the time is now. Head below to listen to Sam’s current smash, “Stay With Me.”
