Is Britney Spears releasing new music this summer? According to a “press release” posted to fan forum Breathe Heavy, she will. Produced by Stargate (Femme Fatale), “All the Way” will be released in mid-August and featured in the official soundtrack for Search Party, directed by Jon Armstrong (Old School, The Hangover) and set to hit theaters in September.

It’s tough to tell whether this rumor is true. On one hand, the “release” says that the Search Party soundtrack will also feature Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, plus new remixes by Lil Jon featuring LMFAO. Yes, both of those artists would make sense for a film by the director of The Hangover. What doesn’t make sense, though, is how the “release” mentions a “physical CD single” of “All the Way” to be released via Universal. Labels still support CD singles, though they’re hardly a top priority.

It doesn’t help that the (fan-edited) IMDB also says something different. According to its soundtrack listing, “All the Way” will appear alongside two Lady Gaga songs, “Partynauseous” (originally, a Kendrick Lamar collaboration for his 2012 debut good kid, m.A.A.d. city) and “Freak Like Me,” long rumored to be a collaboration with Spears herself — oof. Here’s to hoping that Search Party‘s soundtrack is half as good as it’s rumored to be.
