Ariana Grande Premieres Zedd/Max Martin-Produced Dance Anthem “Break Free”: Listen

After relentlessly teasing “Break Free” on Instagram, Ariana Grande finally unveiled the follow-up to “Problem” this afternoon (July 2). Co-produced by Zedd and Max Martin, the fast and furious club banger certainly represents a new sound for the 21-year-old, who is best known for her power ballads and mid-tempo jams.

The second taste of Ari’s imminent sophomore set My Everything is a manic floorfiller that picks up where Zedd’s last big hit “Clarity” left off. It’s fairly straightforward EDM but Swedish hitmaker Max Martin makes sure that it has a distinct pop sensibility. “Problem” was blocked from reaching number one by Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy” but the pint-sized diva could have better luck this time. Listen after the jump.

I love this single so much her voice/emotions is so real on it, and Zedd is a production master he’s in his own lane. Thsi song is going to blast to the top of the charts just wait and see.

Yes this song will so top the charts!!! She is stepping out of her comfort zone and she nailed it! #ArianaRocks

This song is too basic for her. She has a phenomenal voice. Why is she using it for songs that should have come out in 2012, if ever?

Mike, maybe you haven’t noticed the rising popularity of EDM in mainstream music. When you climb out from under that rock you’ll realize there isn’t a better time for this song to be released; especially since with Ariana and Zedd have established a name for themselves.

On the other hand I do agree that her vocals for this track are basic in comparison to her potential.

i totally agree, it’s a good song but very 2012.
