Shortly after she surprised dean of pop vocalists Tony Bennett at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Lady Gaga teased more of what’s to come from their forthcoming duets album, Cheek To Cheek. During an ArtRave tour stop at Ottawa’s Bluesfest, she sat on top of a bubble-wrapped grand piano to sing “I’ve Got A Crush On You,” a 1928 standard written by George and Ira Gershwin.

“What I’ve been wanting to tell you is that, Canada, I’ve got a crush on you,” Gaga said to introduce her brief cover. She sang the hook a cappella, as made famous years later by the likes of Sarah Vaughan and Frank Sinatra, before launching into her larger-than-life dance anthem “Born This Way.”

Bennett first announced Cheek To Cheek in 2012, while assuring that the collection of covers would “really affirm that [Gaga]’s one of the best jazz singers that anyone’s ever heard.” The two have delayed the album’s release a few times since then, although recent appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Frank Sinatra School of Arts hint that it will (finally) arrive this year.
