Fifth Harmony Channel Destiny’s Child In New Single “Bo$$”: Listen

Fifth Harmony spells out their ambitions in its new single “Bo$$”…literally.

Back in February, while opening for Demi Lovato on tour, the X Factor girl group covered Destiny Child‘s “Independent Women.” In “Bo$$,” all five members (Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, Dinah Hansen) boast of being exactly that:“C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-T.” They compare themselves to Maybachs. They make clear they want a Kanye West instead of a Ray J. They boast of doing the #NaeNae with each credit card swipe.

Has Fifth Harmony grown up? Not quite – despite themselves, the group’s girlish charm shine at the hook (“Michelle Obama / Purse so heavy, making Oprah dollars”). And that’s okay. As Fifth Harmony smirk at thirsty males, while producer Wallpaper. cues the bombast of Jason Derulo‘s “Talk Dirty” and off-kilter snaps and locker-door snaps of the Neptunes, “Bo$$” proves to be a working girl anthem in the tradition of “Bills, Bills, Bills,” Kelis‘ “Bossy” and TLC‘s “No Scrubs,” though for an age of filming #NaeNae Vines at the White House.

X Factor mentor Simon Cowell was onto something – with songs like the savvy “Bo$$,” girl groups were bound to come back in style. Hear Fifth Harmony’s great new single after the jump.

They look awful, like clones with no talent. Pathetic, no-talent hacks.

The song is definitely Destiny’s Child inspired. I love these girls. Hopefully the video will be good.

Honestly, it’s catchy…that’s the only thing that keeps me listening to it. 5H ruined their good girl look, and has went to Play Boy Bunny Town. I mean look at their “Bo$$” outfits. They won’t make it far, unless players get them farther than i expect.
