Lykke Li Slams Her First Album, ‘Youth Novels’: Read Her Brutal Critique

Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li first came to us in 2008 when she released her debut LP, Youth Novels. Containing zingy jams like “I’m Good, I’m Gone,” and “Little Bit,” the ethereal pop songstress now shockingly reveals that she despised her first attempt.

“I cannot stand my first album,” Lykke admits to The Daily Telegraph. “It is so bad. I sucked.” And that’s not all! Read what she had to say about her latest album after the jump.

Youth Novels is meant to be the first of a self-proclaimed trilogy album compilation, and her recently released third disc I Never Learn is the last in the collection. However, much to our surprise, Lykke thinks that this record will not benefit her in the grand scheme of things, either. “In a commercial sense, this album is the worst move I could make: nine songs that just rip your heart apart,” she told the British newspaper.

Don’t be so hard on yourself, Lykke. We still adore you!
