8. “Goodies” – Ciara

Prior to her current love for House-inspired dance grooves, Ciara was once the Princess of Crunk-‘N-B! The era may be long gone, but back in 2004, crunk dominated both the rap and R&B music scenes, and then-newcomer Ciara was the biggest face behind the movement. Her debut single “Goodies,” the title track of her first album, helped propel the singer into R&B star status. Produced by the King Of Crunk, aka Lil Jon, and featuring labelmate Petey Pablo, the bass-heavy song made everyone want to get up and twerk. (Not to mention, it also introduced us to the singer’s now-famous Matrix-inspired dance move.) The super popular song peaked at #1 on the Hot 100, where it reigned for seven weeks.

9. “She Will Be Loved” – Maroon 5

Maroon 5 is one of the biggest pop-rock bands of our generation, and that success is partially due to their uber-popular album, Songs About Jane. As with “This Love” and “Sunday Morning,” the album’s third single “She Will Loved” garnered worldwide chart success and landed on almost every radio playlist. The beautiful ballad, written by lead singer Adam Levine, tells a heart-breaking story about a young girl who struggles with finding true love. “She Will Be Loved” was definitely loved, as it topped numerous charts internationally and peaked at #5.

10. “Yeah!” – Usher (feat. Lil’ Jon & Ludacris)

There’s no question that 2004 was the year of Usher, thanks to his masterful third album Confessions. The single responsible for the mania was “Yeah!,” featuring fellow ATL artists Lil Jon and Ludacris. The song, which was also part of the Crunk-‘N-B movement, was a favorite at every club, middle school dance, television show, family barbecue, radio station…the list goes on. From the catchy beat brought up straight from the Dirty South to the music video’s sexy dance routine, “Yeah!” was bound to become a worldwide hit. It maintained its #1 position on the Hot 100 for twelve weeks straight — but wait, there’s more! The song also won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 47th Annual Grammys, and became the longest-running #1 single of 2004. And 10 years later, Usher still continues to rule the airwaves as a legendary R&B star!
