Kanye West Covers ‘GQ’ Magazine’s August Issue

Kanye West recently accused Nike, Gucci and Louis Vuitton for not taking him seriously as a designer. Now, he covers GQ‘s August issue an example of how to “dress like a god,” as the tagline suggests. Shot by famed French photographer Patrick Demarchelier, West wears a white T-shirt, black trousers, a camel blazer and thin gold chain — a new uniform of sorts for the rapper who initially became famous for wearing anything emblazoned with the Polo Bear.

“I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus,” West has said of his place in pop culture. He would go on to name-check fashion designers as he released his Air Yeezys and an APC menswear collection. West raised his voice when talking about Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane in particular. His persistent indignation can be grating to some, but with increased recognition and a Vogue cover to boot, it’s also hard to argue with how he speaks up for himself.

GQ‘s August issue hits newsstands July 29. See a larger version of the cover below.
