Michelle Williams is redefining the soundscape of gospel music on her fourth solo LP Journey To Freedom. The Destiny’s Child diva first showed her intent to shake things up on mid-tempo R&B anthem “Fire” but really went HAM on Beyonce and Kelly Rowland-assisted religious club banger “Say Yes”. Her mission to make faith-based more accessible continues with two new snippets.

The 33-year-old diva surprises on “Need Your Help” — an urban-pop anthem with a distinct ’80s twist courtesy of retro-synths. It’s very promising but Michelle takes it to the next level on “Yes”. The frantic electro-house anthem begins with a massive drop before a male singer demands “put your hands up in the air”. At this rate, Journey To Freedom is shaping up to be one of the most unexpectedly original albums of the year. Listen to the new snippets after the jump.
