Just call her…the Independusive Chanteuse.

“#Beautiful” diva Mariah Carey has officially parted ways with constant collaborator Jermaine Dupri (as her manager anyway), following the release of her latest album, Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse.

“I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work. I put my all into every project. But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future,” Dupri explained to Billboard. “Not allowed to do what I do”? It’s a somewhat surprising statement, considering the duo’s extensive songwriting history together — from “We Belong Together” to several songs on E=MC2, Merry Christmas II You and Me. I Am Mariah, which he previously described as “one of her best albums.”

After ditching Randy Jackson back in 2013 for Dupri as manager, the iconic songstress is now flying solo once again…for now, at least.

According to Billboard, Mimi’s been “working closely” with Def Jam’s Kevin Liles on projects including her glamorous new Butterfly beverage, although “nothing official” has been inked between the two.
