I got sunshine on a cloudy day…

Whether it’s the 1991 Macaulay Culkin flick or the actually infectious tune itself, Smokey Robinson and Ronald White‘s 1960’s hit “My Girl,” as performed by legendary soul troupe The Temptations, is truly a number that stands the test of time.

And what better way to ring in another Throwback Thursday (#TBT) than with Smokey’s reintroduction of the Motown classic?

Featured on his forthcoming duets album Smokey & Friends (out August 19),  the song features some of today’s best R&B crooners such as Miguel, Aloe Blacc and *NSYNC‘s JC Chasez as well as guitar stylings by John Mayer.

From Miguel’s and Aloe’s sultry mewls to JC’s signature runs, the rework sounds a bit like a ‘90s bedroom slow jam more than anything else. Nevertheless, it totally works. Listen to the new version of “My Girl” via JustJared, and let us know what you think in the comment section below.
