Ariana Grande’s Invites Violinist Taro Hakase To Overhaul For “Baby I” For Japan: Listen

All the songs we’ve heard from My Everything (thus far) indicate that Ariana Grande is trying to distance herself from the middle-of-the-road, grandma-friendly pop of Yours Truly. The 21-year-old roped in the services of Iggy Azalea for upbeat urban-pop smash “Problem” and embraced EDM on Zedd-assisted club anthem “Break Free”.

It’s interesting then that she takes a completely different approach on classy Japanese bonus track “Baby I”. And no, it’s not the version that appeared on her debut LP. The Babyface-penned gem has been completely overhauled by Japanese violinist Taro Hakase, who is probably best known outside of Asia for his work on Celine Dion‘s “To Love You More”. This sound works for Ari and she should pursue it further when she grows tired of surfing the latest trend. Listen after the jump.
