“Thank you all so much for voting for me. This is for my fans,” Ariana Grande said while accepting the 2014 Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Artist last night (August 10) at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Edwin Pauley Pavilion on the UCLA campus in Westwood, but a reported burst pipe caused flooding in the venue just one week prior.

Grande, who is arguably the pop star of summer 2014, continued with her speech by acknowledging the recent passing of her grandfather. “Especially this last month was very rough for me, and my fans showed me the realest love and compassion and understanding and support,” Ariana said while holding her new trophy surfboard.

Of course, the “Break Free” singer wasn’t the only artist to pick up beach-ready Teen Choice awards on Sunday evening. Other big winners included One Direction (Music Group, Love Song for “You & I,” Break-Up Song for “Story Of My Life,” Summer Tour, Fashion: Male Hottie and Social Media King), Ed Sheeran (Male Artist and Song: Male Artist for “Sing”), Iggy Azalea (R&B/Hip Hop Artist, a shared Song: Female Artist win with Ariana Grande for “Problem” and R&B/Hip Hop Song for “Fancy”) and Demi Lovato (Summer Song for “Really Don’t Care” and Summer Music Star: Female).

Rookies who snagged awards this time around included iTunes sensation Shawn Mendes (Web Star: Music), chart-topping Aussie boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer (Summer Music Star: Group and Breakout Group) and Austin Mahone (Breakout Artist).
