Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora & MAGIC! Perform At ‘Pandora Summer Crush’ On Santa Monica Pier: 9 Pics

Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora and MAGIC! all performed at Pandora Summer Crush — a free concert showcasing 2014’s break-out pop stars — on Santa Monica pier on Saturday night (August 9). MAGIC! warmed up revelers with songs from debut LP Don’t Kill The Magic. After performing gems like “No Evil” and a cover of Cyndi Lauper‘s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, Nasri & co. belted out breakthrough hit “Rude” and officially kicked off the party.

Next up was Rita. She certainly cut a striking figure with her baby blue hair and revealing bandana skirt but didn’t make quite as big a splash with her set of UK hits. That changed when she moved on to more familiar material like “How We Do (Party And Bullshit)” and current single “I Will Never Let You Down”, which is slowly but surely climbing the Billboard Hot 100. The 23-year-old looked and sounded great, so fingers crossed the next LP produces more hits stateside. Strangely, she didn’t return to sing “Black Widow” with her Aussie friend but I guess they are waiting for the VMAs.

The night, however, belonged to Iggy Azalea. It’s a testament to her exploding popularity that she can begin a show with relatively obscure collaborations and EP cuts like “Beat Down” and “Murda Bizness” and still have the audience singing along word-for-word. The pinky bodysuit-clad diva then made her way through hits from The New Classic (“Bounce”, “Change Your Life” and the unfathomably awesome “Work”) as well as high-profile features like “Problem” and “No Mediocre”. That left summer-defining anthem “Fancy”, which still sounds fresh thousands of spins later.
