With the passing of Lauren Bacall at the age of 89 on August 11, 2014, Hollywood has lost one of its most legendary greats of the silver screen. Born Betty Perske in The Bronx (and known to those close to her throughout her life as Betty, rather than Lauren), Bacall is perhaps best known for her iconic roles in films such as To Have And Have Not, Dark Passenger and How To Marry A Millionaire — not to mention for her real-life romance with husband and To Have And Have Not co-star Humphrey Bogart.

Bacall’s death is also notable for the the sad significance of all of the famous figures mentioned in Madonna‘s classic 1990 hit “Vogue” having now passed away. Given this, we decided to honor all 16 icons from Madge’s smash single with the gallery above, in which you’ll find a handy guide on which of their memorable films to check out.
