Demi Lovato Announces Mental Health Listening And Engagement Tour: Watch
Demi Lovato first opened up about her bipolar disorder in 2012, after being diagnosed a year prior. Now, she joins the Mental Health Listening and Engagement Tour to both speak on her experiences with bipolar disorder and become a more informed advocate, as she connects with leading experts.
“I want to shine a light on the people out there who like me are learning to live well with mental illness by getting the right diagnosis and finding the right treatment plan,” the “Really Don’t Care” star says in the tour’s announcement video (above). “I want to be the most informed and powerful advocate I can be and to help people to find the courage to seek help.”
The video shows Lovato visiting the JED Foundation, which works in suicide prevention specifically among college students, as an example of the tour’s efforts. It also serves as the latest example of how Lovato’s become an outspoken advocate. Earlier this summer, she lent her voice to the Human Rights Campaign to benefit marriage equality.
