Charli XCX Announces Album ‘Sucker’ Will Be Out In October, Drops New Song “Break The Rules”

October’s days are filling up as far as far as new album releases, and Charli XCX just added herself to the calendar. The British singer’s sophomore LP Sucker, which follows her 2013 debut True Romance, is now set for an October 21 release via Neon Gold/Atlantic. To celebrate the news, Charli has premiered a new song titled “Break The Rules” (listen to it below) which finds her veering away from the romanticism of breezy summer hit “Boom Clap” and getting back to the more raucous, anthem-like dance-pop of “I Love It” and “You (Ha Ha Ha).”

Here Charli’s knack for a catchy, attitude-filled chorus is evident more than ever, and the song is given an added allure thanks to a thick, clomping beat and a hands-in-the-air synth refrain — complete with the singer chanting along with some na na na na nas by the end of the whole thing.

Give “Break The Rules” a listen below.
