Portland electro-pop duo Priory will release their major label debut LP this November (on Warner Bros.), and one particular highlight is the irresistible track “Weekend.” To bolster the song’s appeal even further, the pair turned to their friend, director David Vincent Wolf, for a video that adds a whole new dimension of charm (and, yes, even a bit of nostalgia) to the mix.

In the clip, actors Nick Krause (The Descendants, Boyhood) and Bailey Noble (True Blood) are teenagers who spend their mundane days toiling away at a roller rink. Nick daydreams of winning Bailey’s affection by pulling some pretty slick skate moves on the floor, but reality, as always, doesn’t quite measure up.

Regarding their “Weekend” video, Priory’s Brandon Rush and Kyle Sears jointly told Idolator the following:

“We wrote and recorded the song ‘Weekend’ at our homebase, Loudwar studios in Portland, Oregon. The song idea came from the notion that everyone feels oppressed by an authority figure at some point in life. It could be a controlling parental figure, a boss at work or the unrealistic standard forced upon us by western culture. We use escapism to feel empowered (for better or worse), and it’s always been a part of our life. The video for ‘Weekend’ was directed by our friend, David Vincent Wolf AKA White Ghandi, and is about a kid’s over the top daydream. We had a great time hanging with Nick Krause and Bailey Noble. There was definitely some chemistry on set, just saying.”
