Kanye West Reportedly Wants To Work With Lorde

Lorde will never be a royal…but perhaps she’s down with being a God?

According to a new item today in Page Six (so go ahead and take this one with a heavy grain of salt), rapper/media fixation Kanye West is reportedly eying a collaboration with the Pure Heroine brooding alt-pop songstress.

Kanye West is back from his concert dates in Australia and is about to start recording with Lorde, sources tell Page Six. After his headline-grabbing appearance in Sydney, West touched down in LA on Tuesday with Kim Kardashian and baby North and is ready to head back into the studio with the edgy female artist. Music industry sources say it makes sense for West and Lorde to record together — she has cited the rapper as an influence and covered his songs on tour, including “Flashing Lights” and the “Yeezus” track “Hold My Liquor.” Their reps didn’t get back to us.

While the credibility of the report is highly questionable (also, we’ve been closely following the progress of Kanye’s upcoming Yeezus follow-up and heard nothing of a Lorde collabo yet!), we can’t say the idea isn’t at least intriguing.

After all, they’ve both been very outspoken regarding celebrity, popular culture and media sensationalism in interviews (and on-stage rants) — perhaps they’d have some interesting things to say together on record? And, as Page Six reports, Lorde is a fan. A major one. At one point, she said that Kanye was “like my school principal, if the school is pop.”
