Lady Gaga is in a much better place today than she was a little over a year ago — at least, that’s according to Mother Monster herself.

In a revealing new interview with CBS Sunday Morning (which aired on Sunday morning over the weekend, obviously), the Born This Way pop diva and the legendary Mr. Tony Bennett sat down to discuss their jazz standards duets record Cheek To Cheek (out Tuesday!), their unique chemistry and the events in Gaga’s life that motivated her to begin this new musical endeavor.

While fans will no doubt enjoy watching Gaga and Tony trade loving words of respect for each other about their upcoming LP, it’s the segment of the interview in which Gaga discusses ARTPOP, which “failed to be the blockbuster the industry expected” according to the news report, that provides the most insight into Gaga’s current state of mind.

“I felt like people were, some people, were holding me to a very high standard,” she reveals. “Everybody’s hooting and hollering because I didn’t sell 20 million records this time, which I did with my first album. It’s not easy to replicate that! I don’t have a formula.”

Later on, Gaga also discusses her exhaustion after recording and touring for six years straight, losing her management team and starting anew, and the role Tony played in helping her stand her ground and restore her musical confidence. It’s an insightful interview all around!
