Lorde Writes New, Mysterious Lyric On Her Hand

Lorde has teased a new lyric – but for what, she didn’t say. “And the scars that mark my body, they’re silver and gold,” it reads, as written on her hand. (Fortunately, she has neat penmanship.)

This summer, Lorde announced that she will be curating The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack. (“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” she says.) The “Royals” star has yet to detail exactly what’s in store, except for the fact that she will be contributing a song titled “Yellow Flicker Beat,” produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence + The Machine) and out September 29.

Earlier this month, she teased a lyric that was just as puzzling as the one she just revealed: “I’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm.” While Lorde could easily be teasing lyrics for “Yellow Flicker Beat,” there’s also the possibility that she is prepping the follow-up to her well-received 2013 debut, Pure Heroine – and if that’s what’s in store, then expect hysteria.
