Move over, lesser pop starlets: Aretha Franklin is back on the scene — and she means business.

As we recently learned, the legendary 72-year-old vocalist returns at the end of October to properly school us with a diva-themed collection of covers, featuring Aretha-ized versions of classic cuts by everyone from Diana Ross to Barbra Streisand to Adele. And now, we’ve got a first taste of what’s to come from Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics.

Today, the icon unleashed her take on Adele’s stomping smash “Rolling In The Deep,” supplying those inimitably rich, soulful vocals and sounding as strong as ever. With some killer vocal runs, as well as a brief transition into “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” (because WHY NOT?), the powerhouse performer proves that she’s still at the top of her game, and truly deserves all of our R-E-S-P-E-C-T. (That song, by the way, first came out in 1967. Call us when your faves could.)
