Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Rihanna And More To Perform At Concert for Valor On Veteran’s Day
Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Rihanna and other superstars will perform a Veteran’s Day concert on November 11 at the Mall in Washington, D.C. The event, dubbed the Concert for Valor, will be free and open to the public. HBO, one of its hosts, will even open up its signal so that non-subscribers can watch a telecast from home.
Other featured performers include Dave Grohl, Metallica and Carrie Underwood, who just released new single “Something In The Water.” Hollywood figures like Jamie Foxx, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks will also make appearances. Overall, the star-studded event is an earnest attempt by the concert’s other host, Starbucks, to raise awareness for war veterans.
On November 4, Starbucks chairman Howard Schultz and Rajiv Chandrasekaran of The Washington Post will release its new book For The Love Of Country. For this, they spoke with soldiers who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and then struggled to assimilate to civilian life after their service. So while the Concert for Valor is a free event, its hopes are to inspire attendees to either volunteer or donate money to its cause.
