Jessie J Gets It Just Right On Mid-Tempo Pop Anthem “Masterpiece”: Listen To The ‘Sweet Talker’ Highlight
Jessie J has served a bit of everything this era. She relaunched as a raunchy urban-pop vixen with all-star anthem “Bang Bang” and followed it up with fellow nuclear-powered club-banger “Burnin’ Up” (featuring 2 Chainz, no less). The Brit then showed us her softer side with stripped-back ballad “Personal” and finds mid-tempo terrain on the instantly endearing “Masterpiece”.
Co-written by Emily Warren, Britt Burton (a bunch of songs on Jessica Mauboy‘s Beautiful album) and Josh Alexander (Demi Lovato‘s “Give Your Heart A Break”), “Masterpiece” is a throwback of sorts to Jessie’s Who You Are album in that it’s addressed to her haters and is a genuinely good pop song. “You haven’t seen the best of me, I’m still working on my masterpiece,” she sings/threatens in the chorus.
