Nicole Scherzinger Debuts New Song “God Of War”: Listen

Nicole Scherzinger continues to surprise with another new song off her forthcoming second album Big Fat Lie. Weeks after she chose power ballad “Run” as the album’s lead single, she revealed “God of War,” a moody kiss-off that takes cues from Janet Jackson’s title track from her 1997 album The Velvet Rope. Like that song, Scherzinger’s ethereal vocals floats over a mid-tempo club instrumental that initially feels low-key, but then grows dramatic as the song wears on.

Scherzinger’s “God of War” debuted right as she revealed more details of Big Fat Lie, produced entirely by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. She told BBC Radio 2’s Graham Norton that while the U.K. version of her new album is out October 20, the U.S. version will be out next spring — and with a slightly different tracklist. “Our club is different in America. I feel like the club here is more dance and the club in America is a little more R&B and hip-hop,” she said.
