What a week in pop!

With 1989 just days away, it’s been all Taylor Swift all the time: From “Welcome To New York,” to Target commercials, to secret sessions and everything in between. So! Much! Taylor! But Tay’s not the only artist with new stuff out: Gwen Stefani made her grand comeback with “Baby Don’t Lie”! Plus, Sound Of A Woman siren Kiesza kept us dancing through the week, while Jessie Ware came in for a softer approach on the gorgeous Tough Love.

At the same time, Mariah Carey notched yet another achievement with her current China tour and Jennifer Lopez is all-but-confirmed for Vegas.

Around here, we premiered t.A.T.u. darling Lena Katina‘s “Who I Am” video, celebrated the 20th anniversary of Madonna‘s under-appreciated Bedtime Stories and spoke to Jasmine V and Kiesza. Phew!

As per usual, you guys had plenty to say. Check out the week’s best comments after the jump.

:: Lisa came to Pink and Dallas Green’s defense on Pink And Dallas Green’s (You + Me) ‘rose ave.’: Review Revue: “AMAZING!!! I love this album. Totally disagree with the critics above. ”

:: While Alexander disagreed: “I think it’s a boring album, it lacks something that is raw, real, and truly soulful. It’s one beat, one dimension, and a bad rip off of She and Him, which has fun soul.”

:: Jamison found similiarities in Iggy’s new single — and loved it for that reason — on Iggy Azalea And MØ’s “Beg For It”: Listen To The Lead ‘Reclassified’ Single: “literally sounds like a mashup of fancy & black widow. i love it”

:: Hanson was inspired by Sister Cristina on Sister Cristina Covers Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”, Preps US Album Release: Watch Her Video & See The Tracklist: “Very brave for a nun to take on this song knowing the backlash she’ll get. But it worked, she single-handedly elevated a catchy gutter song/video into something truly beautiful and heartfelt! I listened to it a number of times while blocking Madonna’s version (very difficult and took a lot of concentration as Madonna’s vision is unfortunately quite ingrained). I was touched and finally understood the song’s message on the power of love and second chances. Looks like a lot of people also got the message, with 88% Youtube Likes so far. The Venice backdrop is a bonus, truly a beautiful city.”

:: Young Fred wasn’t feeling the new Mary J on Mary J. Blige’s “Nobody But You”: Listen To The New Single, Co-Written By Sam Smith: “the song doesn’t go anywhere. it’s boring. NO climax. After about a minute into it I”m bored. This is typical with R$B music these days however. When the hook comes in the beat is pulled out. Not good.”

:: Evan Moon was #TeamGwen in our Ibrawlator on Ibrawlator: Who Has The Better Comeback Single, Gwen Stefani Or Fergie?: “I love both of them, but this time Gwen really comes out on top. Ryan Tedder knows how to write a monster hit, this song is catchy, fun and very current, I think Fergie fell short on this one, wrong song to release as the first single off her upcoming album and it gets a bit irritating half way through. Really hope Fergie releases a new single soon, still love her. Gwen wins this round.”

:: But Brandon was jamming the other way: “They are both so good, but Im going to give it to Fergie-Ferg. I be jammin to that.”

:: lisa felt compassion for Kesha on Wayne Coyne Sheds Some Light On Kesha’s Relationship With Dr. Luke, Explains Why ‘Lip$ha’ Was Shelved: “I really feel for Kesha. She has everything to lose by coming forward with all of this, and there have been hints at this for awhile so I absolutely believe her. I wish her nothing but the best.”

:: Nick O. definitely heard similarities between Gwen and Ji Nilsson’s song on : “hahaha. The production is almost identical. They changed the levels of the drums and made them more intense. that’s about it. while she isn’t really mad at all (like this article implies) I honestly think Blanco ripped off the majority of this track. Its too similar to be coincidental. Gwen probably had no idea.”

:: But Pablo R. didn’t think so: “It literally has like one same drum effect, which realistically has been used in a good amount of songs. It doesn’t even have the same timing, vocal style, or even lyrical content. Brave and Roar I can see. This, no.”

:: jjc50 made a boring point on Is Jennifer Lopez Considering A Las Vegas Residency? (Update: Yes!): “At a certain point in life, shaking your a$$ in everyone’s face begins to look a little desperate, not to mention the stupid look she has on her face whenever she does it. This is talent?”

:: But Brandon came in with a rebuttal…and more shade: “If you got it flaunt it, she looks fantastic and that booty deserves every bit of the spotlight. If I had to pick between seeing her or Britney, Id go with her. Shes a great entertainer.”

:: DH Saunders was slayed by Mimi’s latest achievement on Mariah Carey Makes Record-Breaking Run In China On ‘The Elusive Chanteuse Show’ Tour: Watch A “Hero” Montage: “This is a HUGE achievement! MC singing HERO in communist China is a subversive political act that nobody else can pull off…..”

:: tahoegeminii disagreed, however: “this tour is a joke-she is just embarrassing herself wallowing over the stage -her “improved vocals ” are because she realized after trying to diss Nick pulling a Taylor Swift she just made a total azz of herself cause she can’t sing without her back track and faking the high notes-how many Asians are walking out when they realize it’s not a JLo concert? she is exploiting a new market cause she has already tanked in the rest of the world-Oz was a diaster and before that -like 6 years ago she couldn’t even fill high school auditoriums in this country so she has to pander to dictators and mislead people in new markets like Asia to sell a ticket-MeMe the annoying whale has made her self the laughing stalk twitter twatt poser has been of the poptard music industry-in other words the lowest of the low-who can stand that screeching anyway.”

:: And finally, Jeremy S. felt very strongly about the use of song in American Horror Story on Jessica Lange Sings Lana Del Rey’s “Gods & Monsters” On ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’: Listen: “SO BAD PLZ STOP DOING THIS STUPID SHIT…If you enjoyed this good for you just know this kind of crap is killing the show.”
