Pharrell kicked off and closed CBS Radio’s “We Can Survive” concert, held October 24 at the Hollywood Bowl. As an unofficial host of sorts (the real host was The Voice‘s Carson Daly), he took it upon himself to remind fans of the event’s cause, to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. “When we sing this next song, I want you to put your best efforts, your prayers, your energy into believing that we can beat this cancer,” he said.

Still, the event’s featured acts made sure to keep the mood light. Taylor Swift performed songs from her new (and soon-to-be-smash) album 1989. Surprise guest Jennifer Lopez stormed Iggy Azalea‘s set for their A.K.A. team-up “Booty.” (She even spanked the rapper’s booty in the process — oh my!) Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Lady Antebellum and Paramore brought their own respective hits, while to close the concert, Pharrell brought out comeback kid, noted collaborator and fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani.
