Taylor Swift‘s new album 1989 is out today (October 27), and the singer stopped by Good Morning America to discuss her latest project. She told the host that she wanted to be authentic, “I think you have to stay true to who you are and at the same time challenge who you are too. I think it’s always important to remind your fans why they started listening to you in the first place.”

The chanteuse continued, “But for this album I gave them something new. I could’ve done Red twice, but instead I decided to go in a completely different direction.”

1989 is Swift’s fifth studio LP, and features songs like “Shake It Off,” “Out Of The Woods” and “Welcome To New York.” Watch the interview up top, and head on after the jump to see the singer announce the winners of the “Shake It Off” contest.
