Dawn Richard Goes Solo (Again) With “Blow” Video, Unveils ‘Blackheart’ Album Cover

Dawn Richard has bounced back from the smoldering disaster that was Danity Kane‘s comeback with her dignity and career intact. (Which is more than Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex can say). She returns to the solo grind with a typically interesting and progressive electro-R&B anthem “Blow” — the first taste of her sophomore LP Blackheart (due January 15).

The 31-year-old also unveiled the video today (October 29) and it’s a arty affair that showcases Dawn’s unique visual approach. “The imagery and focus of this record is an introduction to the [Heart] movement and what it stands for,” she says in regards to her fans and collaborators. “In a time where numbers and stats matter, we simply don’t give a fuck if you like us. We are here. We are strong and we are beautifully imperfect.” Fair enough! See the alt-R&B diva’s album cover after the jump.
