Annabel Jones casually threw one of the 2014’s best pop songs on her SoundCloud a couple of months ago and casually went back to work on her debut EP (due early 2015). Meanwhile, “Magnetic” continues to enchant wherever there is an internet connection. Rising electronic producer AObeats discovered the Brit’s ethereal anthem and decided to give it an overhaul.

“I wanted to try and capture the emotional range of the song,” Andrew Okamura (his real name) says. “The original had a very stripped down and simple instrumental which worked really well, but I wanted to give it a different twist to emphasize the contrasting feelings throughout the song.” He does that brilliantly by playing with the newcomer’s pitch and introducing waves of whirring synths. Annabel’s verdict? “AO interpreted ‘Magnetic’ fabulously.” It’s hard to disagree. Take a listen after the jump.
