Ryn Weaver’s Breakthrough Hit “Octahate” Gets A Mind-Bending Cashmere Cat Remix: Listen

Ryn Weaver established herself as one of 2014’s most exciting new pop stars when she casually dropped the genre-defying gem “Octahate” and then disappeared back into the studio. Co-written by Charli XCX and co-produced by Benny Blanco and Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos, the finger snap-filled odyssey was hailed by many as the song of the summer and will, no doubt, win even more devotees thanks to mind-bending remix by Cashmere Cat (who was also involved in the original production).

The Norwegian DJ, who recently produced and featured on Ariana Grande‘s My Everything cut “Be My Baby”, transports “Octahate” to an initially sparse and then dizzyingly dense synth-scape. His real achievement, however, is heightening (as opposed to diluting) the confusion and desperation that made the original version so arresting. Check out the remix after the jump.
