Calvin Harris Pulls Out Of MTV EMAs, U2 Is Now In

Calvin Harris will no longer be performing at the MTV EMAs on November 9, as he has “taken ill,” according to the awards show. The superstar producer-DJ was scheduled to appear alongside Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys and host Nicki Minaj, among others, and for his first-ever EMA performance.

Earlier this week Harris released his fourth studio album Motion. The star-studded affair includes the John Newman-featuring “Blame,” the Ellie Goulding-featuring “Outside” and the Gwen Stefani-featuring “Together,” and responses ranged from lukewarm to positive. (Critics mostly agreed that Harris played it safe.) The day before Motion‘s release, the dance titan headlined Bacardi Triangle in the Carribean with Goulding and Kendrick Lamar.

Fortunately, the EMAs had just added another performer to its line-up: U2. This will be the fourth time that the band performs at the awards show, the last time being in 2009 to do “Sunday Bloody Sunday” with Jay Z. Revisit the memorable match-up below.
