In celebration of World AIDS Day (which is today — December 1), U2 have planned a surprise concert in the middle of New York City’s Time Square! The Irish rockers have invited special guests Kanye West and Carrie Underwood to perform. Naturally, Bono would also make an appearance — but his recent bike injury prevents him from attending. Fortunately Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen will take turns fronting the band.

“A (RED) THANK YOU — Presented by (BANK OF AMERICA)RED” kicks off tonight in Times Square. If you’re not in New York or just want to avoid the large crowds, the show will be broadcasted worldwide via Youtube. Watch the livestream starting at 7:30 p.m. EST after the jump!
