ARTPOP: The great unifying force of the pop world.

Lady Gaga spoke out about a lot of things during her interview with Howard Stern yesterday, from a past incident of sexual assault by a producer to her love of great, underappreciated singers like Sia. But one of the other things she revealed? Her newfound appreciation for 1989 darling, Taylor Swift!

It wasn’t always this way, however.

“We’ve met a few times, and I can’t say anything bad about her. What she doesn’t know [is] I was at the AMAs or something,” she explained on the radio program. “Her and I were sitting next to each other and she goes, ‘Oh my God! I love ARTPOP. I love ‘Applause,’ and ‘Applause is my favorite song,'” she explained on the program. And yes, there is photographic evidence of this exchange. (See up top.) But that wasn’t enough to sway Gaga — yet.

“I was thinking, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. This chick is full of s–t. But then my buddy called me, Brandon, who’s my stylist, and she was doing a shoot and he was styling her… He goes, ‘Taylor Swift is in here blasting ARTPOP so loud, and she is dancing and she’s posing.’ I thought to myself, ‘I like this girl.’ You know why? Because she said the same thing to my face that she said behind my back. Yeah, I like her.”

And there you have it: The secret to gaining Gaga’s trust? Honesty, and an appreciation for Koons balls and garden panties, both behind her back and in front of her face.
