Imagine Dragons’ “I Bet My Life” Video Is A Surreal Odyssey

Imagine Dragons broke (very) big in 2012/2013 when their debut LP Night Visions spawned a string of massive hit singles (“It’s Time”, “Radioactive” and “Demons”) and eventually sold double platinum. The band returned in October with “I Bet My Life,” the first taste of their much-anticipated sophomore LP, and the sing-a-long anthem finds the Las Vegas-based rockers in a much mellower mood.

The video premiered earlier today (December 12) and it’s a visual feast. Directed by Jodeb, the striking clip stars Spider-Man 2 actor Dane DeHaan as a dude with some serious family issues. “As the first video on our new album, it was especially important that we capture the emotion of the song,” frontman Dan Reynolds reveals. “Although it was written about my sometimes strained relationship with my parents, our director had a powerful vision for how the feeling of the story could be portrayed.” That vision includes a harrowing near-death experience and surreal imagery. Watch up top.
