Idolator editors pick their top 10, from Tove Lo to Tinashe and more.

Songs by Lana Del ReyLorde and Sia are among the 79 eligible for an Oscar for Best Original Song, as announced today (December 13).

Based on votes from the Academy Awards community, this long list will eventually be whittled down to just five nominees. For now, though, these picks are quite similar to those up for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song — Motion Picture. In fact, all of those nominees are now eligible for an Oscar nomination, too: Del Rey’s title track for Tim Burton‘s Big Eyes, Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat” off The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One, Sia’s “Opportunity” for Annie, John Legend‘s “Glory” off Selma and Patti Smith‘s “Mercy Is” for Noah.

So for now, the most interesting Oscars selections are ones that haven’t been recognized just yet. Other notable pop picks include Coldplay‘s “Miracles” for the Angelina Jolie-directed Unbroken, Adam Levine‘s “Lost Stars” for Begin Again and Tegan and Sara-The Lonely Island collab “Everything is Awesome” off The Lego Movie. Two songs from The Fault In Our Stars soundtrack also made the cut: Grouplove‘s “Let Me In” and Birdy‘s “Not About Angels.” (Charli XCX‘s “Boom Clap” isn’t eligible, since it also appears in her forthcoming sophomore album Sucker.)
