Madonna’s ‘Rebel Heart’: 3 More Demos, Including Alleged Lady Gaga Diss Track, Surface Online
Madonna has tried her best to cope with the leak of 13-plus songs from her forthcoming 13th album, Rebel Heart. She finished and released six tracks, including “Living for Love.” She even set a firm March 2015 release date. She seemed to be in control of her own music again, at least momentarily.
However, that initial leak was just the beginning: Just three days later, 14 more demos surfaced online. Then last night (December 27), three more demos arrived: “Never Let You Go,” “Arioso” and “Two Steps Behind Me,” a song long-rumored to be a Lady Gaga diss track. And in the latter, with its pounding piano melody and cutting lyrics, Madonna makes clear that she isn’t playing nice: “Where is my royalty? / You’re a pretty girl, I’ll give you that / stealing my recipe.”
Since that demo surfaced online, though, the pop diva and her manager Guy Oseary have denied that the song was targeting Lady Gaga — or any female artist, for that matter. “I do not wish ill will towards any other female artist and i [sic] never have! The World is big enough for all of us!” Madonna said on Instagram. Meanwhile, based on her own recent post anyway, Mother Monster herself may not feel the same way. See their posts in full below.
