Marina And The Diamonds Reflects On The Circle Of Life In Her Arty “Immortal” Video: Watch
Marina And The Diamonds unveiled the glamorous cover and lyrics of “Immortal” yesterday (December 30) and kindly dropped the video this morning. The latest serving of Froot — the Brit’s much-anticipated third LP — is another delicate, stripped-back ballad that finds her contemplating the transitory nature of life. It’s a recurring theme in the diva’s occasionally morbid oeuvre, but she always manages to examine the topic from an original perspective.
The simple-but-stylish video finds Marina performing the song while home movies are projected on to a screen behind her. There are happy childhood scenes, a wedding and ultimately footage of old folks. She takes us through the circle of life without being overly sentimental. “Immortal” (and second buzz single “Happy”) are mark a stunning return to form for the quirky songstress after disappointing with the title track.
