The Leading Men Of Pop Stripped Off In 2014

When Usher debuted “I Don’t Mind” featuring Juicy J, he was promptly accused of ripping off Migos. The young Atlanta rap trio caught the attention of Drake (“Versace”), R. Kelly (“Show Ya Pussy”) and Justin Bieber (“Looking for You”) with its breathless triple-time flow, as seemingly referenced in the R&B crooner’s tender stripper anthem.

Now, though, Usher has actually teamed up with Migos for “Still Got It,” released New Year’s Eve. Produced by Zaytoven, the low-key song has Usher slyly matching Migos’ flow yet again, while reminding us that he does as he pleases: “So you think I fell off / What you talking about, n—- / I’m ‘2 On’ / and my city with me…”

Usher has been revisiting his stacked back catalog during his UR Experience tour, after announcing but then pushing back his album UR indefinitely. He says that for now, he’s currently inspired by what Atlanta hip-hop has to offer. (He moved to that city from Chattanooga, Tenn., to pursue a singing career when he was a teen.) “I think Atlanta culture is more relevant now than it’s ever been in time, musically and culturally,” he said to Billboard. “And, I’m really enjoying it.”
