The original holiday song gets a camp dance makeover -- listen!

Last night (January 3), Kelly Clarkson took to Twitter to set the record straight on her forthcoming seventh album. While she has called her new music “empowering” and said that it incorporates several genres, this time she got more specific. Clarkson talked about the record’s sound, a few songs in particular and several potential release dates.

“People keep asking. My next album is pop,” Clarkson says. “But I am always influenced by music I love, which is pop-rock/country/r&b/dance #whoknowswhatsnext”

She also gave two hints, albeit puzzling ones, on what to expect of the LP’s first single, arriving next month: Proof Of Life, as in the 2000 crime thriller starring Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan; and Dr. Dre‘s “The Next Episode,” his West Coast posse cut featuring Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and Nate Dogg from the same year. And she mentioned that a duet, one she’s talked about already, features an artist with whom she’s collaborated before: “this wasn’t our first time to sing together.”

Soon, fans were asking exactly when to expect the follow-up to her 2013 Christmas album Wrapped in Red, and her first batch of non-holiday music since 2011’s Stronger. “Summer 2015,” she said, to a fan who queried, “Any release dates? Tour? IM DYING TO HEAR YOUR VOICE LIVE AGAIN.” See all of Clarkson’s Twitter hints below.
