Remember when every heavy-hitter in the game had a protege? Usher brought us Justin Bieber, Akon masterminded Lady Gaga‘s early career and T.I. is still guiding Iggy Azalea to greatness. Florida rapper Flo Rida threw his hat into the ring in 2013 by signing Dutch-born diva Natalie La Rose to his I.M.G. label (via Republic Records). She dropped her debut single “Somebody” recently and it’s a catchy R&B-pop anthem featuring “Don’t Tell ‘Em” hitmaker Jeremih.

“It’s a fun and funky song,” declares Natalie. “It’s feel-good, and it reminds me of summertime. I love to be around people, have a great time, and dance. That’s what it stands for.” In other words, it’s a breezy party jam that gets stuck in your head after the first listen thanks to the canny interpolation of Whitney Houston‘s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” in the chorus. Listen to the smooth-voiced starlet’s first single after the jump.
