Toronto duo k.i.d. have been steadily building up an impressive wealth of praise online over the past 12 months, thanks to tongue-in-cheek synth-rock tracks like “I Wish I Was Your Cigarette,” all of which has been leading to the release of their debut EP. Bobby Lo and Kara Lane, the pair who make up k.i.d. — or Kids In Despair — first met in high school and proceeded to hone their writing and producing skills, traits that helped the  garner a following all on their own, without compromising who they are as a band.

Ahead of their EP’s spring release, Idolator is premiering brand new k.i.d. track “Drunk Enough To Love Me.”

Kara explains, “Falling in love with a fickle, alcoholic dick is not a situation anyone wants to find themselves in. But when you’re in a band, it’s okay, because you can run home and write about it. I remember writing ‘Drunk Enough’ in Bobby’s room, at like 4 a.m., making so much noise, praying we wouldn’t wake our mom up.”

Kara continues, “The song is one of our more ‘pop’ tracks, but it still has this kind of garage, autumn-in-the-suburbs feel to it. We can’t wait to play it at our gigs, it’s gonna feel like we’re exorcising ourselves of the demons of past contentious relationships.”
