Mariah Carey Announces Las Vegas Residency
Uh oh, Britney Spears may have some competition in Sin City! Mimi is coming to town.

With all the excitement yesterday following Mariah Carey‘s special announcement of her upcoming Las Vegas residency on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, there’s one little detail that quietly slipped through the cracks: Mimi’s preparing an updated re-release of her iconic #1’s compilation album as well!

As announced in the same press release about the Las Vegas show, Mariah is also working on a new edition of the 1998 collection that features “newly recorded music,” due to be released later this year. “Revisiting these songs for the show, working on the updated compilation and creating new music has really let me reconnect with my songs and I hope my fans will enjoy the experience,” Mimi says.

As the Lambily will no doubt tell you, Mariah’s notched several more #1’s since the album’s release, from 1999’s “Heartbreaker” to 2005’s “We Belong Together” to 2008’s “Touch My Body.” Who knows what else Mimi’s planning to add to the album this time around?

Are you excited by the prospect of new music on the upcoming #1’s re-release? Sound off in the comments below.
