Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Special': Review Revue
See what critics had to say about the musician's latest album!

Mark Ronson‘s musical comeback after a four-year hiatus is shaping up to be his strongest era yet, as he continues to celebrate having the number one single in the country with the insanely-catchy “Uptown Funk.” This week, the DJ/producer covers the latest issue of Billboard magazine.

Inside, Ronson discusses the surprising success of his Bruno Mars collaboration: “No one was holding their breath for a Mark Ronson record in 2015. I’m sure I wasn’t on any Sony sales projection.” In fact, the recording process really got to him — he even passed out on a restaurant floor at one point.

Producer Jeff Bhasker told Billboard, “He comes across as a laid-back guy, but he gets pretty wound up and neurotic. We literally reworked ‘Uptown Funk’ 100 times, if not more, to get it right. That’s not a guy who’s relaxed and reasonable — that’s out of your mind. Plus, it was 95 degrees in London and Mark was wearing a black suit.”

Uptown Special seems to be a personal record for Ronson, as he has dedicated it to his late friend — Amy Winehouse. He tells the magazine working with the singer “was inspiring, because when you work with someone that great, you suddenly want to be better. In every way, it put me on the map. Take that album away, and you and I would definitely not be talking right now.”
